Bourns, Inc. today introduced the extension of the CSS2H-5930and CSI2H-5930 Series with a 0.1 mΩ resistance value and 15 W power rating for precision current sensing in high-current applications. The new models combine an electron-beam-welded metal strip design with low inductance and low thermal EMF characteristics to support accurate current measurement while minimizing power loss.
Designers of battery-powered, power-conversion, and high-current control systems continue to face pressure to increase efficiency while reducing heat generation and preserving measurement accuracy. In these applications, excessive voltage drop across a sensing element can reduce system efficiency and complicate thermal management. The new 0.1 mΩ models address these constraints by providing ultra-low resistance in a compact surface-mount package while maintaining a 15 W power rating and low inductance characteristics. Within the CSS2H-5930 Series, the Model CSS2H-5930R-L100x is also AEC-Q200 compliant and automotive grade.
“Current sensing circuits in automotive and industrial power systems often require very low resistance values to minimize power dissipation while maintaining accurate measurement capability,” said Walter Garcia, Product Line Manager - Resistors, Bourns. “The addition of a 0.1 mΩ value to the CSS2H-5930 and CSI2H-5930 Series gives designers another option for high-current applications that require a 15 W rating, low inductance, and long-term stability. The CSS2H Series also provides a model with AEC-Q200 compliance and automotive grade qualification.”
