Bourns announced the SC2 Series, a new line of four-terminal surface mount wirewound resistors designed for demanding current sensing and power applications. The series offers resistance values from 0.005 Ω to 1 kΩ with tolerances to ±0.005 % and TCR to ±5 ppm/°C. It supports currents up to 25 A and operates across a temperature range of -55 °C to +275 °C.
Precision current sensing and power systems require resistors that maintain measurement accuracy across changing temperatures, current loads, and surge conditions. Very low resistance values can further increase the importance of stable sensing and terminal configuration. The SC2 Series combines four-terminal wirewound construction, superior surge handling capability, and optional non-inductive windings for precision measurement and high-frequency environments.
“Designers of battery test equipment, power analyzers, and industrial power electronics need current sensing resistors that maintain stable characteristics across wide operating temperatures and demanding load conditions. The SC2 Series provides resistance values from 0.005 Ω to 1 kΩ, tolerance options to ±0.005 %, and TCR options to ±5 ppm/°C in a four-terminal surface mount configuration.”
